MICHAEL LIGETT

My photographs represent my view of the world around us from a new perspective.   When I approach a subject I search for a unique point of view that maintains the viewers’ connection to the scene, but also brings a fresh outlook to each scene.  My early education as an engineer and designer helped develop my sense of photographic composition, and my later training under professional photographers honed my ability to capture and present my perspective. 

I marvel at the difference that a new angle or elevation brings to a subject or location, creating new compositions that challenge our preconceptions of the world, while also increasing our appreciation for the beauty around us.  When I photograph a scene, I can be easily recognized as the one lying flat in a tidal pool, hanging upside-down from a tree or rock or with my eyeball in the middle of a flower.

By presenting the world in a different way, hopefully my photos evoke a new appreciation for the wonders of nature around us.
