Freedom acording to Webster’s dictionary is the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint. I first put brush to canvas a few years ago. My first painting was entitled, “Freedom”. I find this title to be very auspicious because freedom is how I feel every time I paint. My first creative love is music.
I've played professionally, around the Atlanta area, for over 14 years and performed with Bob James, The Temptations, The Three Degrees, Ken Navaro, and with the Lekan Jazz group.
Even though I am a musician, by trade, I have always had an affinity with painting. Ever since I can remember, I loved going to museums and seeing first hand original works from Veronaise, Rembrandt, Picasso, Matisse, Mantenga, Titian, Bellini, etc. One of my favorite painters is Mark Rothko. I think his work, for such simple pieces, has so much depth to them. I am also influenced by artist Benjamin Creme. Most of my paintings are influenced by my musical and spiritual nature. They are also "colored" with a bit of humor.
