Departed Souls

Regina D. Izaguirre

"Departed Souls" represents subjective images generally composed of introspective and diversified interpretations of the human figure in conjunction with elements of nature. The artist sees images as “embroidery of perceptions and dreams interlaced with one’s own memories, desires, and associations”. In her paintings, Regina transports the viewer into realms of emotional, psychological and intellectual landscapes, exalting the magical reality of the union between nature and human.

Regina Davis Izaguirre naturally unwraps herself within the most realistic pictorial lines into the lines of imaginary fields. Each of her paintings is a unique intimate world with hidden elements and figures that underline the principles of existence. Her work is figurative art of sharp images but delicate within subject and intricate in context, without doubt, a very personal style which is not influenced by artistic fashions and trends but by emotional encounters with life itself.

Born and raised in Mexico City, Regina draws her inspiration from painting her own emotions in combination with phrases she finds in poetry, colloquial sayings, myths and stories that invite the viewer to define her art as “painted poetry”. Regina Davis Izaguirre is a completely self-educated artist. She has passionately painted and drawn from a very young age, having her first exhibition at the age of 16.

Drop by Piola Arlington for the opening reception of “Departed Souls” on Tuesday April 10th, between 6:00 and 8:00 to meet the artist. Regina’s paintings will be on display through June 8th, 2012.
